Evidence-Based Robot Assistance in Neurorehabilitation

The project studies opportunities for social humanoid robots in upervising training tasks for post-stroke patients.

Following questions are important:

  • How can patients be motivated?
  • What kinds of models are to be specified for patients, robot and context?
  • What is the role of system architecture in complexity handling?
  • How is the human recognized in the loop?
  • What kind of rules are to be applied?
  • In which way do patterns help?
  • How can natural language interaction be supportive?
  • How is knowledge specified?
  • When to interact in which way?
  • ... and many others.

Based on the results of the project, we expect to deepen the understanding of strategies, approaches, and methods in Human-Robot-Interaction. A cross-pollination of experiences in Psychology, Sociology, Medicine and Computer Science domains is assumed.
